Talented Young Investor

Would you believe at the age of 42 years old, he turned $28 million into $10 billion!. With investing creativity and knowledge couple with ability to unlock value of hidden assets, Eddie Lampert, a young ex-Goldman Sachs analyst believed that K-Mart, nearly bankrupt retailer, was a good investment.

When Eddie was 14, his father died at the age of 47, due to heart attack. His mother then had to become a clerk at Saks Fifth Avenue while Edie himself worked in various warehouses.

After 4 years of valuable experience at Goldman Sachs, he left the Company to work for Richard Rainwater in Texas. Mr Rainwater gave him money to start his own equity fund company namely ESL. his relationship with Rainwater stopped after a year due to Mr Rainwater disagreed to let him handled a deal but he wanted more than became only a stock dealer.

Everything begun when K-Mart entered into bankruptcy protection in early 2002 due to sustainability and stiff competition with other retailers especially Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart offered a good price & discount, a lot of options and better condition of their stores. As a result, K-Mart unabled to compete and continuously reported loss year-on-year. This problem gave Eddie a good opportunity to take control of K-Mart by buying K-MArt bonds coz bondholders have an upper hand on the preferential. Eddie knew that K-Mart owned very valuable assets, their stores itself which located at prime area.

And now, he's trying to duplicate the same idea to Sears. Everyone is watching whether he can do it again.
